Bitsixteen is an audio recording studio based in Dublin, Ireland. Specialising in voice recording, it was established by sound engineer and producer, Paul Fegan, in 2009, and has many AAA clients in its portfolio, such as Penguin Random House, HarperCollins and Bloomsbury.

Paul began writing and recording music in his teens and at the age of 17, bought his first multi-track cassette recorder: a TASCAM Porta One. This served as a great primer for the recording process and the technicalities of multi-tracking. Within three years, he had upgraded to a TASCAM 38: an analogue, half-inch reel-to-reel tape machine, along with a dbx noise reduction rack, and a TASCAM M216 mixing desk. In the mid 90s, Paul recorded two actors for his first paid voiceover project: a computer based training course on time management. In the late 90s, he traded-in all of his old analogue equipment to purchase his very first hard-disk recording machine: a Roland VS-880 VXpanded. Then, in 1999, Paul was employed to set up and staff the audio department for an Irish elearning company, which saw them install two Dutch Esmono audio booths and two of the latest hard disk recorders. Paul spent ten happy years there, recording, producing and editing elearning audio with lots of great actors in a multitude of languages, and upgrading the two studios to keep up with the demands of a very busy company.
In 2009, Paul set up bitsixteen studios limited, built its studio from scratch, and began serving the wider elearning and localisation sectors. Over the following years, he steadily grew the business and expanded into other sectors, such as audiobooks, animation and museum audio guides. Since then, bitsixteen has had the pleasure of recording household names such as Roddy Doyle, Marian Keyes, Neil Jordan, Claire Keegan, Paul Howard, and Fintan O’Toole.
